10 Days
Language of Delivery: Arabic/English
Delivery: Face to Face/Zoom

Audience

This study program is intended for all horse and animal lovers, for riders, for horse owners, for veterinarians, for stable workers, and for those working in all equine therapeutic fields. With the aim of treating and caring for your horse, or the horses under your responsibility, and also to acquire new effective therapeutic tools, develop your profession, stand out from other practitioners and acquire professions that are in great demand in the labor market, with international certificates from the leading institutions in the field and for the first time in the country.

About the program

This course is designed to develop students' understanding of the relationship between form and function in the horse. Starting with the horse evolution and conformation assessment, this course will introduce students to the anatomical structure and physiological functions of all the major body systems, with a detailed appreciation of osteology, myology, arthrology and neurology. The course will make use of theory-based lecture sessions and lab-based dissections to enable students to achieve a greater understanding of anatomy and physiology. Students will acquire a basic knowledge in structure and function of the cardiovascular, respiratory, reproductive, integumentary and digestive systems. A deeper focus will be placed on relating form to function, giving an appreciation of how the musculoskeletal system coupled with the nervous act together to generate locomotion. Musculoskeletal and nervous dysfunction will be covered in depth within the course in order to enhance understanding of how horses move. Practical’s including palpation of anatomical structures of the musculoskeletal system will help on the understanding how these amazing animals move.

Students learn to find bony landmarks, muscle attachment areas through practical palpation exercises, and painting the skeleton on horses. Students then palpate and paint on the major muscles, and are provided with information on their function and dysfunction issues.

Finally, students will have an overview on pregnancy and neonatal physiology.

Anatomy and Physiology is the basis of physical examination and an important part of the evaluation of biomechanics. Without an in-depth understanding of equine anatomy and physiology, the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of the equine athlete would be impossible. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the horse including the axial skeleton, appendicular skeleton, neurology, physiology, and myology of the horse. This course will provide the necessary skills to effectively communicate with professionals in the equine industry.

This detailed course includes anatomy vocabulary, muscle and skeletal diagrams, the skeletal system, muscular system, other integral systems, the equine foot and equine dentition.

Learning outcomes:

  • Describe the normal structure and function of the equine anatomical systems

  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of both the skeletal and muscular system including bone and joint structure and muscular function.

  • Explain the function of the neurological system and understand its relationship to the musculoskeletal system and identify the impact of their dysfunction on the equine.

Certificates

(Diploma) Certificate from Al-Ahliyya Amman University – the Training and Consulting Department, the International College of Integrative Medicine (CIM), Dubai Racing Club, Dubai Equestrian Club and the International Organization for Complementary Medicine (CMA) located in London, UK, which qualifies the graduates to work all over the world.
