About the program

The use of essential oils has been known for 6000 years, and was common in ancient Egypt, so extracts were used to treat sick conditions. The godfather of aromatherapy who introduced this method to the west was Pharmacist René Maurice Gatfos in 1928 who was working in a perfumery factory owned by his family and is credited with establishing the modern movement for this branch of therapy.
One day, Gatfos was working in the laboratory of the perfumery factory when he burned his hand, so he quickly dipped his burned hand into a bowl filled with Lavender oil which consequently healed his burn. Thus, Gatfos concluded that the oil certainly had an effective therapeutic and antiseptic effect. Aromatherapy is a treatment method that uses concentrated herbal essential oils with a consistently fragrant scent.
The components of the essential oils have different aromatic features in addition to the scent that a particular aromatic herb contains. Essential oils are used for treating diseases. They are usually diluted or are added to water or to another oil called the base or the carrier. One of the most common methods of treatment with aromatherapy herbal oils is massage. Essential oils can penetrate the body which absorbs the oils to eventually heal the internal tissues and organs. Many people have felt the relaxation benefits of essential oils by adding some aromatic oils to their bath since they relive pain and recharge energy.
Most of these materials contain essential oils that are used in herbal aromatherapy. Inhalation is believed to be one of the most direct and rapid means of treatment. This is because the volatile essential oils molecules act directly in the olfactory organs and the brain senses them directly. The most well-known method that has been evaluated throughout history for its therapeutic success is the steam inhalation method, in which several drops of the essential oil are added to hot water in a bowl. In this treatment, the person sits with his face facing the mixture and then covers his head and bowl with a towel so that the steam is only directed to his face.
This procedure can be repeated two to three times a day, but people with asthma should not follow this method.

Some essential oils can be used directly via a tissue or on a pillow and thus the steam is inhaled. Steam inhalation with essential oils is an ancient tradition the was used for treating cold and flu.
Another method of treatment with herbal oils is compresses, which are effective in treating rheumatic pain and various muscle aches in addition to bruises and headaches. You can also prepare creams, oils and cosmetics that contain oils extracted from herbs. A wide range of cases can be treated by aromatic herbal oils. Furthermore, it is suitable and gentle for all age groups. It is especially useful for the long-term treatment of chronic diseases and for preventing the development of some diseases. Treatment with aromatic herbal oils is a comprehensive treatment approach, and thus the therapist seeks to form a complete picture of the patient, his lifestyle, family conditions and nature paying attention to the symptoms that require treatment.
Thus, the therapist decides, which oil or essential oils are best suited to the patient's condition. Our students learn to know the properties of the oils and adapt them to the patient according to his personality and physical and emotional state.
